Climate:

Guyana has a warm, rainy, subtropical climate with an average temperature of 81° F in the capital city of Georgetown. Humidity is usually between 80 and 85% and like the temperature, does not change much throughout the year. There are two wet seasons along Guyana’s coast, occurring from May to July and November to January. During this time about 90 inches of rain falls on average. In Guyana’s southwest region, there is less rainfall, with an average of 65 inches, because there is only one wet season from April until August.

Calling Internationally:

To call Guyana from the United States, dial the international prefix, 011; then Guyana’s country code, 592; and then the three digit city code, then dial the actual phone number.

Electricity:

Electricity in Guyana is 240 Volts, alternating at 60 cycles per second. However, voltage can vary throughout the country, particularly in the capital city of Georgetown. Depending on what area of the city you’re in, you may need 120 or 240 Volts at either 50 or 60 Hertz. If you travel to Guyana with a device that does not accept 240 Volts at 60 Hertz, you will need a voltage converter. Outlets in Guyana generally accept a flat blade plug or two parallel flat pins with ground pin. If your plug has a different shape, you may need a plug adapter.
