Czech Republic Travel Planning & Travel Tips

Embassy contact information:

American travelers visiting or living in the Czech Republic should register with the local U.S. Embassy. The embassy can provide valuable information for traveling and living in the Czech Republic. The U.S. currently maintains an embassy in Prague at Schoenborn Palace. The palace/embassy is located at Trziste 15, which is located near the Malostranka stop on the Green Line metro. There are two telephone numbers, which are 420-257-022-023 and 420-257-022-000, with the second number being available for emergencies 24 hours a day. Alternatively, the embassy can be contacted via email at [email protected] or reached by fax at 420-257-022-809. Travelers can also get detailed information on visas and other services at Embassy Website.

Climate:

The period of April-October is the best time to visit the Czech Republic. Hostels can become crowded, especially in Prague, during July and August but are generally available. While attractions in Prague are open year round, many outside of the city choose to close down in the winter.

Calling internationally:

Dial the international calling number (011 from the US), then the country code (420 for the Czech Republic), then the phone number.

Electricity:

The electric current in the Czech Republic is 230 volts.
